Navy openers started things off with a blast after being put to bat first, scoring 27 runs off two and a half overs, when Dhanushka Gurusinghe who was batting aggressively was bowled by a beautiful yorker by Vikum Sanjaya. Navy’s downfall came after that, losing wickets in regular intervals. BRC was able to get wickets whenever they introduced a new bowler. A couple of cameos made by middle order batsmen earned them a reputable score of 137. Excellent communication between the batsmen was shown, squeezing quick singles with nudges to the leg side.

Lisura Lakshan and Maduranga Zoysa opened the batting for BRC. They had a rocky start, struggling to meet the ball with the middle of the bat. However, they managed to keep the run rate in check, scoring 21 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the 3rd over.
Lisura fell prey to Amith Eranda right when they were trying to speed up the run rate, giving an easy catch to the wicketkeeper, Kavishka Peiris. Indika De Seram fought a lone battle to get his team over the line while Dilanka Auwardt was picking up De Seram’s fellow batsmen one by on. Finally he fell prey to the same bowler in the 11th over. Dilanka was responsible for 5 out of the 6 BRC wickets that fell.

Sri Lanka Navy captain Buddhika Hasaranga made a terrible mistake bowling out Dilanka’s quota by the 14th over which limited his bowling options. Nuwan Perera, Mangala Kumara and Sashin Dilranga who followed De Saram, made the best of it, taking their side over the line with fireworks.

Sri Lanka Navy: 137/10 in 19.5 overs: Buddhika Hasaranga 24, N.D. Malan 21*, Dhanushka Gurusinghe 20, Chameera Dissanayake 3/22, Damith Rangana 2/24.

BRC: 138/6 in 18.4 overs: Mangala Kumara 27*, Shashin Dilranga 23*, Indika De Saram 21, Dilanka Auwardt 5/20, Amith Eranga 1/28
