The FFSL announced a 31-player pool on 7th May from which 8 players have been omitted after the tour to Qatar. The majority of the omitted eight players are the ones who were new additions to the pool, including Marvin Hamilton.
According to sources he has yet to receive his dual citizenship to be eligible to play for Sri Lanka. If he is able to receive his dual citizenship in time he will be able to join the squad from the 2nd round.
The other omitted players are Mohamed Ishan, Mohamed Ijas, Mohamed Waseeth, Abdul Rahuman Issadeen, Khalid Azmil, Sebasthiyampillai Jesuthasan and Sahayaraja Roche. Khalid Azmil and Sebasthiyampillai Jesuthasan are believed to be the players on standby. Football Federation of Sri Lanka are yet to confirm the decision.
Sujan Perera will be the captain while Kavindu Ishan will act as the vice-captain. Nizam Packeer Ali will be the Head Coach and he will be assisted by Janaka Silva (Assistant Coach) and Sampath Bandara (Goalkeeping Coach).
