Just a week prior to this meet, Abeykoon ran the 100m of his dreams at the Anhalt Meet in Dessau, Germany, when he picked up Gold with a new South Asian Record in the 100m. Abeykoon clocked in a stunning 10:16sec, beating the then standing record of 10:22sec held by Himasha Eshan.
