Lankan sprint sensation Yupun Abeykoon has managed to push himself to 46th position in the shortlist of athletes vying for a spot in the Men’s 100m at Tokyo 2020.

The Olympic Qualification Standard set for the Tokyo Games is 10.05s with a total quota of 56 athletes set for the Men’s 100m event. 39 athletes have qualified through achieving the qualification standard, while 4 spots have been granted via Universality Place. Of the 13 remaining spots, Abeykoon is in 7th position, hoping to stay within the top 56 come the 29th of June, when entries will be closed. 

World Rankings – Yupun Abeykoon in 46th position

Abeykoon’s World Ranking has risen to 48, the highest position of his career, thanks to a record-breaking season.
