Navy SC vs Air Force SC A at Navy Grounds, Welisara

It was a low-scoring thriller that ultimately ended in favour of Air Force SC A in Welisara, as the hosts and defending champs fell perilously close to securing a tight win.

Air Force won the toss and took first lease of the wicket, but were blown away for just 102, thanks to a fiery opening spell from left-armers Tharika Sewwandi and Udeshika Prabhodani, who claimed 6 wickets between them. The visitors looked like they would be bundled out without reaching triple figures, but a valiant 45 from Malsha Shehani, which included a 34-run partnership with Inoshi Fernando and 26-run partnership with Tharuka Shehani helped them cross the 100-run mark.

The chase looked like it would be simple one, but the hosts lost 3 wickets with the score on 16 and then slumped to 18/5 inside the 1st 10 overs, giving the advantage to Air Force. National vice-captain Harshitha Samarawickrama threatened to take the game away from the visitors however, holding the innings together with 26 to her name, but Malsha Shehani came up with the goods, to turn things around for Air Force. The rains came down with Navy needing 18 runs to win and 1 wicket in hand, but no further play was possible and the visitors took away the crucial win on D/Ls.
