Having won the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bat first but were tested by a disciplined Australian bowling attack. They managed to post a modest total of 99 runs, with Limansa Thilakarathne leading the way with a composed knock of 35. Ira Aery was the standout performer with the ball for Australia, picking up 3 wickets for 19 runs to keep Sri Lanka in check.
