Western Province North and Southern Province advance to the under 15 provincial final

Western Province North led by Josephian all-rounder Jehan Daniel and Southern Province led by Dharmasoka bowler Raveen Yasas have qualified to play in the Prima under 15 provincial final which is scheduled to play on 27th September at SSC grounds. 

Western Province North advanced to the finals after their semi-final encounter against Western Province South Outer ended prematurely due to rain while Southern Province beat North Central Province by 40 runs (D/L method). Both the matches were played at Welagedara stadium and De Soyza stadium respectively. 

Southern Province vs North Central Province 

Kavindu Ediriweera’s stunning century paved the way for Southern boys as they posted 232 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Kavindu made a fine knock of 102 runs in 114 balls which had 11 fours and a six.  In reply, North Central team was 121 for 6 wickets in 30 overs when rain forced an early end.

Western Province vs Western Province South Outer

Asel Sigera and Sanjula Abeywickrama played out two brilliant innings of 112 and 84 respectively as Western Province amassed a massive 301 all out. Asel’s knock of 112 came in just 110 balls while Sanjula faced 85 balls for his 84 runs. 

In reply, Western Province South Outer was 14 for 2 wickets in 2 overs when rain halted play. With the match being abandoned without a result, the finalists were decided based on the performances in the league stage. WP North advanced to the final by advantage of their four victories during the league stage, against the 3 wins registered by WP South Outer.
