Western North-Outer, Western South-Outer, Western Central and Southern Provinces advanced to the semi-finals of the 10th Prima Champions Cup conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Western Province South-Outer had it easy against Eastern Province today as they registered an easy 9 wicket victory at Malabe. Eastern won the toss and they only managed to post 121 in 27.3 overs. Nilu Akash was the lone hero with the bat for Eastern with 42 runs while Lahiru Madusanka, Nadula Kaveesha, Vihanga Gunarathne and Yohan Sanjaya bagged 2 wickets each. Western South-Outer got over the line thanks to an unbeaten partnership for the second wicket by Kamil Mishara and Kavindu Umayanga. Kamil and Kavindu were unbeaten on 50 and 44 respectively as they guided the team over the line with 9 wickets in hand. With this win Western Province South-Outer ended right at the top as the only unbeaten team in the group stages and they will be facing Wester Province North-Outer in the semifinal.

North Central Province VS Western Province South

Another low scoring affair between these two sides saw Western Province South registering a 7 wicket victory. North Central won the toss and elected to bat first. They could not put up a good enough total as the Western Province South bowlers cleaned them up for just 122 runs. Dineth Wellalage and Sayuru Peiris bagged 3 wickets each. Western South only took 11.5 overs to get over the line with 7 wickets in hand. Western Province South ended up at third place in the table while North Central ended right at the bottom of the table.

Uva Province VS Western Province North-Outer

Western Province North-Outer registered a convincing 4 wicket victory against Uva today at Mahara Prison Grounds. Westerners won the toss and elected to bowl first which worked out fine for them. Uva could only manage to post 145 runs in 41.2 overs. Theekshana Ridmal bagged 3 for 17 and Sasith Hirudika took 2 for 31. In reply, Western South-Outer got over the line in just 25.3 overs thanks to a well-made 66 by Sandaruwan Chinthaka. With this win Western Province North Outer ended up at second place in the table due to their higher NRR and they will be facing Western Province South Outer in the semi final.

Southern Province VS Central Province

Southerners showcased a dominating 158 run victory against Central Province today at De Mazenod College grounds. Southern posted 235 runs in 47.5 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat first. Lohan Aroshana top scored with 49 runs while Yasith Rupasinghe bagged 4 wickets for 27 runs for Central Province. Sourthern Province dominated the second half of the game as their bowlers cleaned out Central Province for just 77 runs. Kavindu Nadeeshan ended with top figures of 3 for 10. With this Win Southern up in second place in the table and they will be facing Western Province Central in the semifinal.

Avishka Perera’s brilliant century guided Western Province North to an easy 112 run victory over North Western Province. Avishka’s 106 run knock helped Western North to post 253 for 9 in their lot of 50 overs. In reply North Western Province only managed to score 141 runs before being bowled out in the last over. Dineth Jayakody ended with top figures of 3 for 25 runs. Western Province North ended up in the fourth place in the table with 3 wins under their belt while North Western ended one spot ahead with a higher NRR.

Northern Province VS Western Province Central

The lowest scoring match for today was between these two sides. Northern Province won the toss and elected to bat first but they were bowled out for just 60 runs in 29.5 overs. Amitha Dabare took 4 for 8 while Yasiru Kasthuriarachchi bagged 2 for 18 runs. Western Central only took 5.5 overs to get to the finishing line and they did it with 7 wickets in hand. With this win Western Province Central topped their table with 4 wins and they will be facing Southern Province in the Semi Final.
