Sri Lanka Emerging Team registered a dominant win over West Indies Emerging Team in the second One Dayer of the three-match series played today (24th June) at SSC Grounds, Colombo.

The comprehensive win helped Sri Lanka level the series at 1-1 ahead of the decisive third and final encounter.

Having been asked to bat first, Sri Lanka Emerging Team produced a batting masterclass to post a formidable total of 360 runs. The innings was built around a sensational century from opening batter Sineth Jayawardena, who played a breathtaking knock of 118 runs off just 63 deliveries. His innings featured 13 fours and 8 sixes and came at an impressive strike rate of 187.30.

Jayawardena received excellent support from fellow opener Vishen Halambage, who contributed a fluent 50 runs off 45 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. The pair laid the perfect platform for the hosts, putting on a rapid 164-run opening partnership in just 98 deliveries.

Captain Nipun Dhananjaya continued his rich vein of form after his half-century in the previous match, registering another valuable fifty to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s innings.

For West Indies Emerging Team, Zishan Motara and Jediah Blades were the standout bowlers, claiming three wickets each.

Chasing a daunting target, the visitors struggled to keep pace with the required run rate and were eventually restricted to 235 runs. Sri Lanka’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings to seal a convincing 125-run victory.

Akmal Fazly and Mihiranga Nimsara Silva led the bowling effort for the hosts, picking up three wickets apiece.
