Wesley’s season goes from bad to worse

Wesley College’s 1st XI cricket season is going from bad to worse as they lost the match on first innings to Kingswood College Kandy. This followed the loss from last week to St. Thomas College.

Losing the toss and having been sent into bat on their home ground in Kandy (Police Grounds Kandy) Kingswood College Kandy made full use of the opportunity as they managed to score a reasonable score of 268 all out in 54.5 overs. Vimukthi Wijesiriwardena top scored with 61 while Avishka Chandrasiri chipped in with a valuable 32.

Kavinda Senavirathne was the pick of the bowlers for Wesley as he managed 5/52. Charith De Silva managed to chip in with 3 for 91 runs.

Batting in their first innings Wesley College displayed yet another disappointing show with the bat as they could have only managed 190 all out in 66.2 overs. Kavinda Senavirathne was the lone ranger with the bat as he managed more than half of their full total as he scored 109 not out.

Avishka Chandasiri managed to pick 4 wickets while Tharindu Liyanage picked 3 wiclets for Kingswood College.

Batting in their second innings Kingswood College managed 216 for 9 in 61 overs. Purnima Weerasinghe top scored with 90 while Malisha Athulathmudali bagged 5 for 77 as the match drew to an end and KingsWood College winning on 1st innings.
