15-year-old Vishmi Gunaratne of Seenigama Cricket Club became the youngest centurion in the Sri Lankan List A cricket history when she smashed a hundred against the Chilaw Marians CC (Women) earlier today.

Gunaratne’s knock of 112 included 13 fours and 2 sixes and came off 117 deliveries. Unfortunately, her knock went in vain as Seenigama were bundled out for 247 in 48.1 overs, falling short of their target of 270.

The fixture is part of the Sri Lanka Cricket Women’s Division 1 50 over tournament being held at a number of venues around the island. Gunaratne’s knock outshone Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Atapattu’s 108 for the Marians.

Despite being just 15 years of age, Gunaratne has represented one of the premier girls’ cricketing schools in the island, Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya since 2017.
