Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness confirmed last Monday that Usain Bolt and longtime girlfriend Kasi Bennett have welcomed their 1st child.

Bolt and Bennett first announced their pregnancy back in January and at a gender reveal party where the former went on Tiktok to reveal that they are expecting a girl and joked saying “Any man! Any boy! Don’t play with me!”.

Bolt may be an eight-time Olympic gold medalist but his latest title is “dad”. Back in February Bolt also said that he wouldn’t encourage or force his child into pursuing sprinting, because of the intense pressure that would come with it.

“That’s going to be hard for my kid. If they want to do it, I’m fine with it. But initially I’m going to say don’t do it, because I know the pressure that will come along with it,” he said during the weekend of Super Bowl LIV in Miami.

Bolt, 33, has said he wants to have three children.

“I’m excited, but I’m nervous,” he was quoted as saying in an NBC article. “I’ve always been a fun guy, I’ve always been that person. But should I be that person and make my girlfriend be the bad guy? Those are the questions I’m asking, so we’ll see what happens.”

Bolt, who retired in 2017, holds world records in the 100m and 200m sprints. The Tokyo Olympics in 2021 will be the first Games without the Jamaican legend since the 2000 Sydney Games.
