Centurion Sithara Hapuhinna was the star with the bat for S.Thomas’ as he scored a century while Kevin Irriyagama and Shemal Samarawickrama guided S.Thomas’ to an 18 run win and with that won a place in the final.
Winning the toss and batting S.Thomas’ College made a commanding 280 as they were bowled out in the 50th over of the game. Opener Sithara Hapuhinna played a major role with the bat as he scored a sensational century to guide his team to a commanding score of 280 all out in 49.3 overs. Sugith Nimnada picked 3 for 44 while Vismitha Wijesiri bagged a brace.
Chasing Richmond College got off to a moderate start as their openers managed only 39 for the first wicket. Richmond never got going as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Finally they ran out of overs as they fell just short of the Thomian target by just 18 runs. Opener Ravishka Wijesiri top scored with 67 mean while Adithya Siriwardena made 50 off 41 balls. Kevin Irriyagama and Shemal Samarawickrama picked up 5 wickets between them as they were the chief destroyers of the Richmond innings.
With that win S.Thomas’ College set up a final against St. Sebastians Moratuwa on the 29th of August at MCA grounds
