Eight matches of the U23 Emerging Club Cricket Tournament 2025 worked off today (12th August) at several venues across the island.
Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club delivered a commanding performance against Police Sports Club, driven by scintillating centuries from Mineth Premarathne and Pulisha Thilakarathna.
Premarathne’s unbeaten 134 and Thilakarathna’s 107 not out powered Bloomfield to a formidable total.

Rashmika Madusanka of Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club, Kevin Samuel of Colombo Malay Cricket Club, Pasindu Pathum of Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club, and Ruveen Fonseka of Navy Sports Club all notched up brilliant centuries, showcasing their teams’ batting depth and flair.
On the bowling front, Ace Capital Cricket Club’s left-arm spinner Wanuja Sahan stole the show with an extraordinary match haul of 9 wickets for just 46 runs against Army Sports Club. Navy Sports Club’s Ishan Anuradha also impressed, claiming 8 wickets for 123 runs in a fiery spell against Moors Sports Club.

Meanwhile, Amitha Sandeepa of Negombo Cricket Club and Manitha Rajapaksha of Galle Cricket Club bolstered their teams’ efforts, each securing 5-wicket hauls to underline their bowling prowess.
