A couple of 2-day encounters of the U19 Division 1 Schools Cricket Tournament 2023/24 commenced today, with Sethru Fernando’s 6-fer against Maris Stella College lighting up the day.
Sethru Fernando of Thurstan College put on an impressive performance by claiming 6 wickets for 42 runs against Maris Stella College, Negombo. As a result, Maris Stella were bundled out for 163 for their 1st innings.
Levin Fernando, who was the chief scorer for them, stroked a 60-run knock. Thurstan College lost 2 wickets in reply with only 39 runs on the board at the end of play on Day 1.
In the meantime, S. Thomas’ College managed to post 217 after being bowled out in 74.3 overs against Mahinda College. Dineth Gunawardena top scored with 62 runs for the Thomians, while Kaveen Rukshan starred 4 wickets for Mahinda.
