U23 Cricket – Pabasara Waduge and Pulina Tharanga helps Tamil Union defeat NCC

Three matches worked out on Sunday (23rd August) in the SLC under 23 division one tournament – week 3 where Tamil Union stunned NCC while Ragama CC had to be satisfied with only a first-innings win. 

Tamil Union vs NCC

Skipper Pabasara Waduge’s 174 and Pulina Tharanga’s five-wicket haul helped Tamil Union defeat a star-studded NCC outfit by 9 wickets at NCC grounds. 

Poor batting by the hosts in the 2nd innings brought their own downfall. Incidentally this is Tamil Union’s 3rd consecutive win in the tournament. 

NCC – 274 all out in 83.5 overs: Nimesha Gunasinghe 99, Ramindu Silva 59, Sandun Weerakkody 54, Pramod Liyanagamage 3/41, Devind Pathmanadan 3/57, Dinuk Wickramanayake 2/49.

Tamil Union – 394 all out in 103.5 overs: Pabasara Waduge 174, Pulina Tharanga 68, Imal Liyanage 46, Sachintha Pieris 3/124, Harith Samarasinghe 4/66.

NCC (2nd inn) – 194 all out in 44.1 overs: Niroshan Dickwella 48, Pawan Wickramasinghe 41, Sandun Weerakkody 61, Pulina Tharanga 5/44.

Tamil Union (2nd inn) – 78/1 in 20 overs: Pabasara Waduge 41*, Sithara Gimhana 27.

 

Ragama vs Saracens

Janith Liyanage and Thilaksha Sumanasiri smashed superb centuries for Ragama Cricket Club as they recorded a first-innings win over Saracens Sports Club in their drawn encounter at Surrey Village in Maggona. 

Ragama blasted 406 in their 2nd innings, largely due to centuries from Liyanage and Sumanasiri. Saracens chasing 427 to win managed to force a draw in the end after reaching 249 for 6 at close.

Ragama – 218 all out in 64.5 overs: Jason Perera 85, Lahiru Milantha 36, Thilaksha Sumanasiri 35, Chemila Obeysekara 6/63.

Saracens – 198 all out in 53.3 overs: Sajeewa Salgadu 35, Ishan Nilaksha 60, Shehan Madusanka 44, Nuwan Karunarathna 4/60, Amila Aponso 3/56.

Ragama (2nd inn) – 406/6 in 90 overs: Lahiru Milantha 46, Janith Liyanage 108, Thilaksha Sumanasiri 119, Supeshala Jayathilaka 54*.

Saracens (2nd inn) – 249/6 in 52 overs: Duleeka Tissakuttige 44, Ishan Nilaksha 37, Dushan Hemantha 45, Poorna Aluthge 43*, Sahan Nanayakkara 3/116. 

 

SL Ports vs Panadura

The final game of the week 3 started on Sunday when Panadura Sports Club hosted Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club at Panadura Esplanade. 

Panadura – 219 all out in 53.3 overs: S Fernando 55, Akila Lakshan 30, Yasas Sri Alwis 28, Hashan Vimarshana 4/49, Rasanjana Jayarathna 3/29.

SL Ports – 106/7 in 36 overs: Yohan Chanuka 38, Rasanjana Jayarathna 25, L.Sanjaya 4/26, Shanaka Perera 3/17.
