Dambulla registered a thrilling 2-wicket win over Galle Outer in the U19 Women’s Youth League today (12th September).

Batting first, Galle Outer managed to post only 84 runs on the board in 19.1 overs. Devumi Vihanga was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Dambulla as she managed to pick up 4 wickets for 17 runs in her 4-over spell.

Sathasivam Kalaiyarasi gave her good support at the other end, taking 2 scalps for 17 runs. Even though the target of 85 seems easy on paper, that was not the case for Dambulla as they managed to cross over the line in the last ball of the innings, losing 8 wickets.

The opening batter Chamodi Devindya’s knock of 23 runs off 40 balls turned out to be a crucial innings for Dambulla which set the foundation for a difficult run-chase. Maniwannan Laksihya and Chamudi Proboda tried their best with the ball taking 3 wickets each for Galle Outer.
