Three traditional encounters of the U19 Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (26th April) at Colombo.  

Having posted 275 runs for their first innings, Trinity College managed restrict Nalanda College to 143 runs as Manula Kularathne starred with a 6-wicket haul for Kandy boys.

Having been asked to follow on, the Nalandians once again struggled with the bat, putting on 153/7 at stumps on day two. Supun Waduge was the pick of the bowlers for Trinity College as he took 5 scalps for 46 runs.

After being 181/7 at stumps on day one, St. Benedict’s College were bowled out for 242 runs for their first innings. St. Joseph’s College replied with a much better batting display posting 280/3, thanks to a classy ton made by Hiran Jayasundara.

Royal College dominated the first day’s play of their traditional encounter against Thurstan College, which began today at Reid Avenue in Colombo.

After restricting Thurstan College to a low score of 114 runs, Royal College made a strong reply with the bat, posting 206/4 at the close of play on day one. Sadisha Rajapaksha led the way for Royal with a brilliant ton.
