Seven 2-day encounters of the U19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (22nd December) at several venues across the island.
St. Joseph’s College managed to take first innings honors against St. Benedict’s College in their Tier ‘A’ encounter ended in a draw today at St. Benedict’s College Grounds in Colombo.
After being bowled out for a paltry score of 168, the visitors made a strong comeback with the ball restricting the hosts to 167 runs thanks to Muditha Disanayaka’s exceptional bowling effort. He picked up 5 wickets for 47 runs helping the Joes bag first innings points.

Ashinsa Nainayake’s brilliant bowling performance helped Ananda College take first-inning points against Maris Stella College in their Tier ‘B’ encounter ended in a draw today at Maris Stella College Grounds in Negombo.
After being, 49/0 at stumps on day one, the hosts were bowled out for 169 runs for their first innings falling just 3 runs of Ananda College’s first innings total. Nainayake was the wrecker in chief with the ball for the visitors as he picked up 5 wickets for 43 runs
Yuneth Senevirathne’s brilliant century and Kevin Samuel’s match bag of 6 wickets helped Isipathana College register the first-innings win against St. Joseph Vaz College in their drawn Tier “B” encounter worked off today at BRC Grounds in Colombo.
In reply to Isipathana College’s solid first innings total of 303, St. Joseph Vaz College posted only 98 runs in the first innings but showed a much better batting display in their 2nd essay putting 158/3 on the board. Vishwa Rajapaksa who starred with the ball yesterday claiming a 5-wicket haul showcased his skills with the bat scoring half-centuries in both innings.
