Toss Report – Sri Lanka vs New Zealand – Sri Lanka bowl first in the World Cup opener

Sri Lanka decided to chase in the opening game of the much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2015. 

The 44-day tournament commenced on a chilly and overcast Saturday morning in Christchurch as Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to field. 

“The wicket looks nice and fresh, we want to exploit the conditions as much as possible.” Mathews said after deciding to field. Brendon McCullum continued his bad run with the toss and he added his views, “We would have bowl first as well but it is a nice track to bat on and we have had success batting first.”
