The blistering knock made by Nuwanindu Fernando helped St. Sebastian’s College to defeat Trinity College by 5 wickets and qualified to one of the semi finals in the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2018/19.

The quarter final encounter between Trinity College and St. Sebastian’s College continued for day two today at Maliyadeva College grounds in Kurunegala. After being 86 runs for 3 wickets overnight, St. Sebastian’s College was bundled out for 149 runs. The skipper Nuwanindu Fernando top scored with 41 runs.

Off spinner Kavishka Senadheera was the pick of the bowlers for Trinity College as he took 5 scalps for 49 runs. Trinity College began their second innings 16 runs ahead and posted 187 setting a target of 204 runs to win for St. Sebastian’s College.

After a poor batting display in the first innings, the lads from Moratuwa showed a much better batting display in the second innings as they cruised to the victory in 28.2 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Sri Lanka U19 cap, Nuwanindu Fernando single handedly won them the match scoring 81 runs.
