Seven fixtures of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were worked out on 11th October, around the island. 

St. Aloysius College Vs Royal College

Group A clash between St. Aloysius College, Galle and Royal College, Colombo concluded in a tame draw at SLAOC Cricket Stadium, Dombagoda as St. Aloysius College earned first innings points.

After winning the toss, St. Aloysius College captain decided to bat first, and they were dismissed for 181 thanks to left arm spinner Gishan Balasooriya’s 4-fer. However, Royal College batsmen couldn’t respond for their bowlers’ hard work as they were all out for 139 inside 50 overs.

With a first innings lead of 42, St. Aloysius College became more attacking with their stroke play in the 2nd innings, accumulating 184 runs for just the loss of 5 wickets. Sandeepa Shamod was the main contributor of the Aloysius innings with an impressive 75.

Royal College were left with only 3 overs to bat in the 2nd innings chasing a target of 224 and they were at 13/1 at stumps.

De Mazenod College Vs St. Servatius’ College

The traditional fixture between De Mazenod College, Kandana and St. Servatius College, Matara which was conducted at De Mazenod College Ground ended in another draw as the home team won first innings points after being put to bat first by St. Servatius College.

Sahan Kosalas’ blistering 96 was the highlight of the first innings as the hosts put up a total of 224. St. Servatius College could only manage 161 for the first innings as Senash Fernando’s 7-wicket haul earned the hosts a 63-run advantage going into the 2nd innings.

When the umpires called stumps on day 2, the hosts were 130/4.
