Four traditional encounters of the Schools U19 Cricket Tournament ended in draws today at Colombo and Kandy. 

Royal College completely dominated in their traditional encounter against Ananda College as they almost clinched an innings win in the drawn match worked off today at Colombo. 

The left-hander Kavindu Pathirathna who remained unbeaten on 87 runs at the end of the first day’s play yesterday, went on to score his well-compiled century for Royal College. Ananda College had a poor outing with the bat today as they bowled out for just 88 runs in the first innings, and after being asked to follow on, they made 169 for 9.

The off-spinner Prashan Kalhara of Royal College starred with the ball, taking a match bag of 7 wickets for 71 runs. 

Trinity College managed to take major honors in the drawn traditional encounter against Wesley College which worked off today at Kandy. After posting a modest total of 220 on the board, they managed to restrict the visitors for 185 runs in their first innings.  Dinuka Thennakoon (4/39), Abhishek Anandakumar (3/50) and Pasan Kularathne (2/19) shared 9 wickets among them.  

The traditional encounter between Zahira College and St. Benedict’s College also ended in a draw today at Kotahena, with the visitors claiming first innings honors.  Pasan Suwahas of St. Benedict’s College excelled with the bat, scoring a century, but the rest of the batsmen could not impress as they were bundled out for 185 runs in reply to the visitors’ first innings score of 300.

St. Peter’s College took the upper hand against Thurstan College in their drawn traditional encounter, which worked off today at Thurstan College Grounds. The left-arm seamer Danal Hemananda was the star performer of the day as he took 5 wickets for 58 runs, restricting the hosts for 189 runs.
