Adithya and Sandun guide Richmond to Pre-Quarters

Richmond College and St. Servatius College managed to qualify for pre-quarter finals of the Singer ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Limited Overs Tournament 2018/19 as they defeated Dharmasoka College and Maliyadeva College respectively today at different venues.

Richmond College, Galle vs Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda

Richmond College recorded a 31-run victory over Dharmasoka College in their pre-quarter final play off which was worked off today at Galle International Cricket Stadium. After winning the toss, the Richmond College skipper chose to bat first and posted 207 runs in the allotted 50 overs. Adithya Siriwardane top scored with a knock of 81 runs for the Galle boys.

Kavindu Nadeeshan was the pick of the bowlers for Dharmasoka College as he picked up 3 wickets for 54 runs. In reply, the Sokians fell 31 runs short of the target as they were restricted to 176 in the allotted 50 overs. Off spinner Sandun Mendis starred with the ball for Richmond College picking up 5 wickets for 36 runs.

St. Servatius College, Matara vs Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala

St. Servatius College defeated Maliyadeva College by 129 runs in their pre-quarter final play off which was worked off today at Uyanwatte Cricket Stadium. The St. Servatius College skipper won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first. They made 257 runs all-out in 49.4 overs with Shashika Dulshan top scoring with 86 runs.

Chaluka Athapattu and Nikila Dharmadasa took 3 scalps each for the lads from Kurunegala. In reply, Maliyadeva batsmen struggled with the bat as they were bundled out for just 128 runs in 32.1 overs. The knock of 64 runs made by Kavin Bandara with the bat went in vain for Maliyadeva College. Shashika Dulshan who starred with the bat earlier in the day showed his credentials with the ball picking up 4 wickets for 17 runs.
