The premier 50 over tournament for schoolboy Cricketers in Sri Lanka, the Under 19 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Cricket Tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, is all set to commence on the 10th of September. The 36 teams of Division 1, all of who are separated into 2 tiers, will compete in 86 matches to crown the winners of Tier A and Tier B.
The 18 teams in one tier are divided into 2 groups of 9 teams each, and one team will face all the other 8 teams in the group in the round robin stage. All the 9 teams will receive 4 home games and 4 away games in round one. After the 36 round robin games are completed, the top 4 teams from the 2 groups will qualify for the quarter final stage, followed by the semi finals and the finals.
The first round, which begins on the 10th of September, is scheduled to end on the 12th of October. According to the official schedule, the timeline for the quarter final stage is from the 13th to the 20th of October. The allocated dates for the semi finals are from the 21st to the 24th of October, while the currently scheduled dates for the finals of the 2 tiers are from the 25th to 28th of October. The finalized dates for the knockout stage of the tournament will be revealed as the tournament progresses.
