Galle emerged as champions of the U19 Girls Sri Lanka Youth League 2024, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, after beating Kandy in the final played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Heading into the final, Team Galle had registered five wins from six games in the first round, with one game ending without a result due to rain.

The Kandy side, on the other hand, won four games in the preliminary round but lost twice against Galle.

In the final, Kandy decided to bat first after winning the toss. They only managed to score 87 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Nirasha Gimhani was the top scorer for them, with an unbeaten 14 off 24 balls.

Hiruni Hansika was excellent with the ball, bagging 4/12, while Chamodi Prabodha also starred with three wickets.

After a brilliant bowling display, Hiruni Hansika partnered with Sanjana Kavindi to help the Galle side ease past the chase without losing a wicket and with more than 8 overs to spare.
