D.S. Senanayake College secured a 7-wicket win today in their Tier ‘A’ 2-day game against St. Servatius’ College, Matara while another three matches of the U19 Schools 2-day tournament ended as drawn encounters.

After being behind 108 runs in the first innings, St. Servatius’ were bowled out for 173, setting a target of 66 to win for D. S. Senanayake as they chased it down after losing 3 wickets. Chenuka Randula was the star with the ball in the second innings with a 5-wicket haul, while Randisha Bandaranayake produced a good all-round performance for the winning side.

Royal College took first innings points in the drawn Tier ‘A’ match against St. Benedict’s College with the Skipper Ramiru Perera shining with both bat and ball. Perera bagged 12 wickets in the match which included a 5-fer and a 7-fer in two innings while compiling a fifty in the second innings, but Royal fell just one wicket short by bowling out the opponents when the match ended in a draw.

Kavindu Kesara’s brilliant all-round show led St. Aloysius’ College to secure first innings points in their drawn Tier ‘B’ encounter against Thurstan College. Kesara got a stunning 7-wicket haul and followed up with a half-century and another fifer in the second innings.

St. Peter’s College claimed first innings points in another low-scoring Tier ‘B’ match against Lumbini College, despite the opposite Captain Shahan Kaushalya’s superb all-round effort. Kaushalya bagged 8 wickets in the match with a fifer in the second innings before stroking a valuable half-century when his side were chasing 181 to win.
