The U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament continued to deliver intense battles, with Isuru Fernando of Moratu Maha Vidyalaya stealing the spotlight by scoring his second consecutive century of the season.
Yoshitha Isuranga’s composed 67 and Chandupa Waduge’s steady 48 helped St. Sylvester’s College post 178. De Mazenod College responded cautiously, with Shevan Welgama unbeaten on 48, steering them to 135/5 at stumps. Dinsara Rivisura and Sharith Sudeena stood out with the ball, claiming four wickets each.

Isuru Nidarshana’s magnificent knock of 129 anchored Moratu Maha Vidyalaya to a competitive 265. In reply, Holy Cross College collapsed to 26/6 in just 8 overs, with Malith Perera and Nishitha Fernando wreaking havoc, leaving the visitors in dire straits at the end of Day 1.

Theekshana Tharuka’s 4-wicket haul restricted Dharmaraja College to 158, despite Kashyapa Dissanayaka’s gritty 48. In reply, St. Aloysius College gained control, reaching 149/2 with Vinod Danushka and Deneth Dewminda leading the charge. The hosts appear well-poised heading into Day 2.
