Three games in the U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (23rd December), with Trinity College securing a comfortable victory over Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala.

Trinity College, Kandy, registered an emphatic innings-and-13-run victory over Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala. Batting first, Trinity scored 215, led by Pulisha Thilakaratne’s 53 and Dimantha Mahavithana’s 45. Thaveesha Balasooriya (4/60) and Dimath Ravishan (3/69) impressed with the ball for Maliyadeva. In reply, Maliyadeva managed only 73 and 129 in their two innings, despite Pahasara Bandara’s contributions of 30 and 39. Malith Rathnayaka (match figures of 8/55) and Vathila Udara (5/39 in the second innings) starred with the ball for Trinity.

On Day 1, Lumbini College reached 132/9 in 64.2 overs against St. Anthony’s College, Kandy. Adeesha Maxwell top-scored with 29, while Kevan Ramika (3/32) and Charuka Ekanayaka (3/40) delivered excellent spells for St. Anthony’s. The match will resume tomorrow with St. Anthony’s taking the field.

Isipathana College, Colombo, posted a solid total of 270, with key contributions from Lesandu Kalpage (58), Chanul Dinath (47), Dasith Senal (47), and Menula Sadev (46). St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy, struggled in their reply, ending Day 1 at 30/2. Nimesha Silva was the standout bowler for St. Sylvester’s, claiming 5/79. Day 2 promises an exciting contest.
