U19-capped leg-spinner Praveen Maneesha delivered an all-round performance against St. Servatius’ College, while two other games in the U19 Division 1 Schools Two-Day Cricket Tournament 2024/25 ended in draws.

St. Joseph’s College hosted Prince of Wales’ College in a closely contested Tier A fixture. Despite the match ending in a draw, the hosts secured a first-innings win. Oshan de Silva was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 80 off 123 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Nushan Perera excelled with the ball, claiming a 4-wicket haul for the home side.

The Tier B encounter between De Mazenod College and Devapathiraja College saw no first-innings result due to bad weather. However, Gimhan Rasanjana shone with a superb 5-wicket haul for Devapathiraja.

In the Tier A match between St. Servatius’ College and Lumbini College, played at the Uyanwatta Grounds in Matara, 18 wickets fell on a low-scoring opening day. U19-capped leg-spinner and Lumbini Captain Praveen Maneesha stood out with both bat and bowl. He first picked up 5 wickets, helping bowl out the home side for 114, and later top-scored for his team with 36 runs—the only batter to reach double figures for Lumbini.

For St. Servatius’, his U19 teammate Viran Chamuditha played a valiant knock, scoring a crucial half-century.
