Trinity & Richmond register wins; Mahith strokes another ton for S. Thomas’

Trinity College registered an innings win over St. Thomas’ College, Matara in an encounter of the U19 Division 1 Tier A Inter-Schools Two Day Tournament 2023/24, which was worked off yesterday (19th January) at Asgiriya.  

Malith Rathnayake picked up a match bag of 13 wickets for 60 runs, helping Trinity College record a massive win over St. Thomas’ College.  In the traditional encounter between Richmond College and Maliyadeva College, the former registered a 4-wicket win at Kurunegala.

Kaveesha Induwara was the star performer in Richmond’s win as he managed to claim 10 wickets for 94 runs in the match. Dimath Abeysinghe from the opposition camp, Maliyadeva College, also starred with the ball, scalping a match bag of 9 wickets.

Meanwhile, the traditional encounter played between St. Aloysius’ College and St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya ended in a draw at Katuneriya. Vihanga Theekshana’s match bag of 9 wickets was the highlight of the drawn game.

S. Thomas’ College managed to claim first innings points against St. Joseph’s College in their Tier A encounter which was worked off at Mount Lavinia. The Thomian Skipper Mahith Perera continued his brilliant form with the bat, notching up yet another century. Perera hit an unbeaten 115 runs off 264 balls with 5 fours and a six, helping his side take first innings advantage.
