Six matches of U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24 were played today (25th October) at several venues across the island.

Roshan Careem stroked a brilliant century to guide Zahira College to a hard-fought win over St. Anthony’s College in a low-scoring encounter worked off today at St. Anthony’s College Grounds, Wattala.

Careem scored 100 runs off 136 balls with 10 fours and a six, helping the visitors post 178 runs on the board. In reply, the hosts were bowled out for just 149 runs, handing a 29-run win for Zahira College.

Richmond College’s spinner Yuri Koththigoda helped his side register a convincing win over St. Sebastian’s College at Moratuwa. Koththigoda picked up 5 wickets for 25 runs in his 10-over spell to restrict the hosts for just 114 runs.

The visitors chased down the target in 25 overs with 9 wickets in hand, thanks to the contributions made with the bat by Chehan Subasinghe (53*) and Helith Edirisinghe 38.

Ananda College also registered a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Dharmaraja College in their backyard. Kithma Withanapathirana of Ananda College put on a clinic with the ball, scalping 4 wickets for 16 runs in his 10-over spell to restrict the Rajans to a paltry score of 118.

The hosts cruised to the target without losing any wickets as Kanchana De Livera and Nethula Edirimanne put their side over the line, scoring fine half-centuries.
