Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and De Mazenod College, Kandana registered wins in the three encounters of the U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24, played today (24th October) at Colombo, Mount Lavinia and Kandana.

Suwas Fernando stroked a magnificent century, helping Prince of Wales College beat St. Benedict’s College by a massive margin of 107 runs. Fernando scored 100 runs off 136 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes.

Chalana Indusha’s brilliant bowling effort – 5/36 – went in vain as S. Thomas’ College registered a 45-run win over St. Servatius’ College. Batting first, the Thomians posted 182 runs in the allotted 50 overs, with Mahith Perera top scoring with a knock of 48 runs.

A collective bowling effort from S. Thomas’ College helped them restrict the opposition to 116 and snatch the victory as per the parabola system. Abheeth Paranawidana was the pick of the bowlers of S. Thomas’ College as he picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs.

Meanwhile, De Mazenod College got the better of D. S. Senanayake College by securing a thrilling 2-wicket win. The all-round skills of Neshan Dias proved worthy for the victorious De Mazenod College. He snared 4 wickets for 21 runs with the ball before scoring a crucial 37 runs in the run-chase for the boys from Kandana.
