U19 Cricket– St. Sylvester’s record comfortable outright victory

Superb knocks from right handed Avindu Herath and Muditha Hashan lifted St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy as they thrashed Holy Cross College, Kalutara by an innings and 1 run today. The game was held at the Asgiriya Police stadium.

The visitors made 128 all out in their 1st innings, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Lahiru Thambawita made 46 while pacies Thenuka Liyanage and Manuja Perera grabbed six wickets between them.

The Vesters’ batting was too good for the boys from Kalutara as they declared with the score on 250 for the loss of 6 wickets. Avindu Herath stroked a constructive 93 runs to lay the foundation for a Vesters’ victory. Partnering up for a partnership of 114 runs with Avindu for the 3rd wicket, Muditha Hashan smashed a hostile 70. Offie Avishka Perera picked up 4 of the 6 wickets that fell.

Trailing by 122 runs, Holy Cross College was able to put up only 121, resulting to a comfortable innings victory for the home team. Skipper Pasindu Perera, who was the top scorer for the side, stroked 32 runs. Manuja Perera and Thusith De Soyza claimed 2 wickets each to conclude the game in Vesters’ favour.
