SLC Premier cricket 2nd day round up – Colts CC win outright

Colts Cricket Club completed a rousing nine wicket outright victory over Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club with more than a day to spare in their SLC Premier League inter club tournament match which concluded at Katunayake today.

Colts v SL Air Force

The Airmen folded up for the second time in the match for a low score while scoring just 151 runs in the second innings with the spin combination of Dilruwan Perera (5 for 34) and Sachith Pathirana (3 for 50) causing the damage. 

As a result Colts CC who had earlier taken a first innings lead of 92 runs were left with an easy victory target of 44 runs and they raced to 45 for the loss of just one wicket from seven overs.

CCC v Badureliya 

Meanwhile CCC also put themselves in contention for an outright victory while producing a tremendous batting performance on the second day of their SLC inter club Premier League tournament match against Badureliya CC which continued at Maitland Crescent today. 

The home side went on to amass a huge 543 runs while building up a commanding first innings lead of 317 with former Sri Lanka youth cap Lasith Abeyratne stroking an unbeaten 234 from 248 deliveries with the help of four sixes and 27 boundaries.

Abeyratne was also involved in two huge partnerships where he first put on 166 for the fourth wicket along with Chamara Silva (69) and added a further 155 for the fifth wicket together with wicket keeper batsman Prasanna Jayawardena (77).

Badureliya CC in their second attempt have already lost two wickets and have a daunting task to save the match still needing a further 258 runs to avert the humiliation of an innings defeat.

Tamil Union v SSC 

Tamil Union rallied around through their late order batsmen to build up a good first innings lead over the SSC in their SLC inter club Premier League cricket tournament match which continued at the P. Sara Oval today. 

Tamil Union chasing SSC’s modest first innings total of 142 runs were in deep trouble at one stage having lost four early wickets for only 54 runs before they recovered magnificently to reach an impressive 320 runs at the end.

All rounder Nisala Tharaka batting at number nine was the top scorer for Tamil Union as he compiled a responsible 84 runs from 124 deliveries inclusive of nine boundaries and also put on a crucial 165 runs for the eighth wicket along with Pulina Tharanga who hammered an unbeaten 79 with half a dozen of boundaries. 

NCC v Moors

The NCC produced an inspired performance on the field to take a good first innings lead over the Moors SC in their SLC Premier league inter club cricket tournament match which continued at Maitland Place today.

Moors SC could manage to score only 188 runs in reply to NCC‘s first innings total of 283 despite a fighting half century from skipper Janaka Gunaratne who made a top score of 69 from 136 balls studded with three sixes and four boundaries. 

The NCC then further consolidated their position and extended their overall lead to 202 runs while reaching 107 for the loss of three wickets in their second innings.

Ragama CC v Bloomfield 

Ragama CC put up a stunning performance to build up a first innings lead over Bloomfield in their SLC inter club Premier League cricket tournament match which continued at Braybrooke Place today.

Bloomfield despite two splendid half centuries from opener Dilshan Munaweera (68) and skipper Suraj Randiv (62) folded up for 249 runs with Sajeewa Weerakoon causing the damage while snapping up four wickets for 92 runs. 

Earlier Ragama CC went on to add few more valuable runs to their overnight score with the help of their tail-enders before been dismissed for a formidable 377 runs.              

Ports v Chilaw Marians

Wicket keeper batsman Gayan Maneeshan struck an unbeaten century as Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC reached 278 for 6 in reply to Chilaw Marians CC’s first innings total of 393 runs in their Premier League tournament match which continued at Havelock Park today.
