Four matches in the Singer Schools U19 Schools Cricket Tournament 2016/17 commenced today.

Trinity College-Kandy vs St. Mary’s College-Kegalle  

Trinity College drove into a demanding position on day one, up in Asgiriya as they scored 308 for the loss of 2 wickets. S. Shanogeeth scored a mammoth, unbeaten 151 while supportive innings were made by Kalana de Soysa (67*) and Hasitha Bolgoda (46).

Trinity College, on declaring their first innings on 308, grabbed the first four wickets of St. Mary’s for 63 runs. Lahiru Kulasiri top scored with 16 runs while Sandaru Sriyasantha remained not out of 15 at stumps on day one. Thisara Dilshan got 2 wickets for 10 runs while Hasitha Bolgoda got 1 wicket for 8 runs.

S.Thomas’ College- Mount Lavinia vs St. Aloysius College- Galle

Upon winning the toss in Mount Lavinia, S.Thomas’ College were bowled out for 162 in 78.1 overs. Dinura Gunawardena stabilised the Thomian innings scoring 45 runs. Hareen Weerasinghe bagged 5 wickets for 43 runs while Ravindu Sanjana got 3 wickets for 26 runs.

St. Aloysius College stands at 50 for the loss of two wickets at the end of the first day with Ravindu Sanjana scoring 26, not out.

Moratu Vidyalaya- Moratuwa vs Dharmasoka College- Ambalangoda

Moratu Vidyalaya were knocked all out for 123 runs in 33.3 overs Madushka Fernando scoring 55 runs in Ambalangoda. Kavindu Nadeeshan rocked the Moratu line up taking 3 wickets for 14 runs.

Dharmasoka replied with 219 for the loss of 6 wickets at stumps on day 1. Ravindu Kashantha did the majority of the scoring with an unbeaten 117. Niraj Kanishka and Dinuka Dilshan bagged 2 wickets in for the team from Moratuwa.

Nalanda College-Colombo vs Richmond College-Galle

Nalanda College topped the day with 190, all out in 54.3 overs. Kasun Sandaruwan and Dilhara Polgampola were the highest scorers with 45 and 27 runs respectively. Kavishka Wijayasiri and Thaveesha Abishek got 2 wickets each.

At the end of day 1, Richmond College were on 112 for 5 wickets, trailing another 78 runs. Chamikara Herath has the best scores so far with 2 wickets for 21 runs.
