Six matches in the Singer Schools’ U19 two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 conducted today.

St. Joseph’s College vs Mahinda College

Mahinda College recorded a 1st innings win against St. Joseph’s College in the group ‘D’ encounter which ended at the Galle international Stadium. The visitors resumed day two on 31/3 and left-hander Revan Kelly stroked a classy 83. However, it was not enough to save them as right-arm seamer Nipun Malinga ran through the Josephian batting line-up with 7 wickets to secure first innings points for Mahinda College.

St. Peter’s resumed day two on 151/3 and went on to post a formidable 294/8 in the traditional encounter which was worked off in Kandana. In reply, the hosts fell apart for 125 as the lads from Bambalapitiya took honors in the drawn encounter.

After being asked to bat first, the Thomians posted a decent 225/9 in the group ‘D’ encounter which started today in Mount Lavinia. In response, the visited were knocked over for a paltry 81 and asked to bat again by the Thomian skipper Dellon Peiris.

The Richmondites invited the Royalists to bat first and they accumulated 223 in the traditional encounter which began today at the Royal College grounds. Left-hander Kavindu Madarasinghe was the star for the home team as he made a classy 72 with the willow. In reply, the lads from Galle were 33/2 at the close of play.
