St. Sebastian’s bowlers starred along with Shanel Fernando as they booked their place in the U15 division 1 final beating Prince of Wales College by 91 runs in the first semi-final worked out at MCA grounds on Saturday.
Winning the toss and batting first, St.Sebastian’s scored 211 for seven in their allotted 50 overs. Shanel Fernando top scoring with 46 for St.Sebastian’s. Ravindu Jayasinghe and Suwath Mendis took two wickets each for Prince of Wales.
Prince of Wales chasing 212 for victory were reduced to 46 for eight before Ravin Pieris and Kavin Chathushka added 69 useful runs for the ninth wicket giving their score card a bit of respectability, but their effort was too little too late as the Sebastian bowlers had already done the damage. Prince of Wales were finally bowled out in the 49 over for just 120 runs as they slumped a 91 run defeat.
