The champions of the St. Joseph’s College Under 14 outfit that won the all Island 10’s tournament for the first time in this age group have been rewarded with a tour overseas.

The Japanese Rugby Football Union, promoting the sport across Asia in line with the World Cup being played in Japan in 2019, have invited the Joes U14 team over to Fukuoka Japan for a training program and a few matches.

The team is scheduled to leave the country on the 4th of October and all preparations are being made to make this tour a reality and reward to the future stars of St. Joseph’s College.

The Japanese Rugby football Union will also provide accommodation and domestic transport for the team.

St. Joseph’s were unstoppable in the Cup final of the tournament, defeating Trinity College 14-05 to take home the championship at Sugathadasa Stadium last month.

St. Joseph’s overcame Isipathana College 19 points to 14 to book a semifinal spot and Royal College were stunned by the Joes in the quarter finals 19-07.

This will be a real opportunity for the youngsters to improve on their skills and rugby sense as St. Joseph’s at the moment are investing heavily on their rugby future.
