CCC, NCC, Army, Tamil Union, Negombo CC, Air Force, Port Authority and Kalutara Town achieve wins in a day for low scores in the under 23 Division 1 cricket tournament

Colombo Cricket Club vs BRC

Colombo Cricket Club managed a 33 run win over BRC at home. Batting first Colombo Cricket Club managed 259 for 9 in 50 overs. Roshan Anurudda made 59 as Ron Chandragputha and Lahiru Jayakody scored 55 and 52 respectively. Poorna Aluthge bowled well to scalp 3 for 61 for BRC.

BRC replied with 222 as they were bowled out in 46.3 overs. Nipuna Gamage top scored for BRC with 50 while PoornaAluthge  an unbeaten 43 for BRC. Ushantha Silva, Usman Ishak and Roshan Anurudda picked 2 wickets each for Colombo Cricket Club.

NCC vs Navy

Pawan Wickramasinghe scored a wonderful century as he steered NCC to a commanding total of 265 in 50 overs. Lahiru Udara scored 45 while Anuk Fernando put up 42 for NCC. Dhanushka Fernando picked 2 for 66 for Navy.

Chasing 266 Navy fell short by 30 runs as they were bowled out for 235 in 48 overs. Yohan Zoysa top scored for Navy with 83 runs and Thushara Samarakoon struck 41. Anuk Fernando was the pick of the bowlers picking 3 for 47. Lasitha Ambuldeniya and Aravinda bagged 2 wickets each.

Army vs Police

Army affected a 51 run win in a low scoring encounter at Army grounds Panagoda. Yohan De Silva top scored for Army with 40 and Sachin Dilranga a sedate 29. Tharindu De Silva and Malik Peiris picked 4 wickets between them.

Police SC got off to the worst possible start and never managed to kick start their innings as they were bowled out for 108 in 35.5 overs handing Army a 51 run win. Asintha Malshan scored 29. Yohan De Silva (4/19), Nalin Perera (2/17) and Sanjika Ridma (2/23) picked up 8 wickets between them.

Tamil Union vs Panadura SC

Winning the toss and electing to bowl Tamil Union restricted Panadura a modest 226 bowling them out in 47.4 overs. Lahiru Sanjaya top scored for Panadura with 35 and Sajan Sudarshana made 30 runs.

Tamil Union chased the score with ease as they reached their target with 7 wickets to spare. Dinuk Wickramanayaka top scored as he made an unbeaten 52. Pabasara Waduge cracked 50 while Isuru Buddhika scored an unbeaten 50 to guide the visitors to victory

Winning the toss and bowling, Bloomfield held back Negombo SC to a low score of 182 for 9 in 50 overs. Tharindu Karunaratne was the best bowler for Bloomfield as he took 4 for 39 as Mohomad Akram picked up 2 for 24.

Chasing the low total Bloomfield were never in the game as they lost wickets at crucial moments and was eventually bowled out for 108 in 38 overs. Thulina Dilshan top scored for with 45 while Pasindu De Silva bowled best with 4 for 24 and Nishan Peries 2 for 21.

Moors vs Air Force

Moors won the toss and failed to take the initiative as they were bowled out for 191 in 46.3 overs. Shanuka Dulaj top scored for Moors with 75. Nimesh Mendis topped the bowling charts as he bagged 4 for 21.

In reply a magnificent 103 by Udayawansha Parakkrama guided Air Force even though they faced few hick-ups in the middle of the innings. Amitha Kaushalya took 3 for 34 for Moors with the ball.
