Tuskers Enroute to Plate Glory

118

After a disappointing game against China, the Tuskers had much to prove against a strong Malaysian outfit in the Plate Semi Final.

However, after some labouring by the Tuskers they managed to come out victorious with a 21-14 score to proceed to the finals against Chinese Taipei.

It was the Malaysians who opened the scoring with burly forward Shaheer bundling under the post after a great bit of patience and skill shown by the Malaysians to convert possession into points. The Lankans who were pushed on the back foot replied through Jason Dissanayake who scored on the stroke of half time as the scores were levelled at 07-07.

Nazeerudeen lit up the Malaysian confidence, when he managed to find space and put his team ahead once again. However, it was wonder-kid Srinath Sooriyabandara who put the Tuskers back into the game with a brilliant 70m run on the right flank to help Sri Lanka level scores once again.

As the game edged towards a close, Sadun Herath managed to put the icing on the cake as he ran right through the tired Malaysian defense to score under the post. The Tuskers worked tirelessly, but finally found their footing towards the end of the game as they will look to winning the Plate in Singapore against Chinese Taipei.
