Trinity Youngsters Out-battle Wesley

Trinity College U-16 came out on top in a very hard fought battle against the Wesley U-16 at the Pallekale Grounds, Kandy.

In what would prove to be an incredible match, the first half was dominated by the hosts Trinity as they scored 2 tries in the first half, succesfully converting one, while the Wesley juniors only managed a single try in the first half, making the score at half time 12-05 to the Trinity youngsters.

The second half however was anything but one sided, though it was once again the Trinity youngsters who got the first points of the half on the board as they were awarded a penalty and succesfully went for the 3 points, extending their lead to 15-05. Trinity kept on the front foot as they got another goal extending their lead even further.

However a spirited Wesley team refused to stay down as they battled back fiercely going onto get 2 more tries converting both to cut down Trinity’s lead from 17 points to a mere 3 points. However the Wesley comeback did not have enough time to unfold as the referee soon blew for full time, giving Trinity the hard fought victory.
