TM Dilshan to skip England ODIs

Opening batsman Tillakarathne Dilshan has ruled himself out of the England ODI series due to personal reasons.

Dilshan retired from Test cricket in 2013 but continued to play ODIs and T20Is. During the recently-concluded ICC World T20 in India, Dilshan amassed 133 runs in 4 matches with a match-winning knock of 83* against Afghanistan.

The 39-year old senior statesmen has played 327 ODIs and has scored 10216 runs with an average of 39.44.

The five-match ODI series against England will commence on 21st of June at Nottingham. Prior to the England ODIs, Sri Lanka will play two ODIs against Ireland on 16th and 18th of June.

Sri Lanka Cricket CEO, Ashley De Silva confirmed the move stating he has written to SLC about his decision and they have notified the selectors not to consider him for the upcoming limited-overs series’ in United Kingdom.
