After a decade-long gap, Windies are set to host Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series in June in 2018, Cricket West Indies announced on Monday (December 4).
With the second match of the series scheduled at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados, Sri Lanka will make their Test debut at the venue on June 14. The Test series is slated to begin from June 6 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, while the final match will be held at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia from June 23.
Prior to the Test series, Sri Lanka will play a three-day tour match, starting May 30, at the Brian Lara Cricket Ground in Trinidad.
Sri Lanka last played a Test series in West Indies in 2008, recording their first win on Caribbean soil as the series ended with a scoreline of 1-1. However, Sri Lanka have travelled to West Indies only for limited-overs series since then. Of the six Tests Sri Lanka have played in the Caribbean, the visitors have won only once, while losing thrice and drawing the remaining two games.
Windies travelled to Sri Lanka for the most recent Test series between the two nations in October 2015, and the visitors were handed a 2-0 beating.
