Red Star scored three goals in six minutes late in the match as they produced a comeback of epic proportions to defeat SLTB SC 4-3 at Shalika Ground, in the 6th round of the Cargills Food City FA Cup.

Red Star took the early lead but found themselves down 2-1 at halftime. It looked like SLTB would cruise through to another pre-quarter final before a red card, with ten minutes to go, turned the game on its head.

Pre-quarter finalists in 2014, SLTB came into the 6th round defeating Great Star SC 2-1 in a closely contested match, while Red Star defeated neighbours Barbarians SC 2-0 last week.

In the 55th minute SLTB doubled their lead with Chamara Jayaweera scoring. SLTB dominated from the time Red Star scored the opening goal and they did the same in the 2nd half.

SLTB looked in complete control with around 10 minutes to go before Henry James produced a moment of brilliance when he weaved through the defense and scored the second goal past the onrushing Suranga.

In the 82nd minute Chanaka received his second yellow card reducing SLTB to 10 men. In that same minute Rahman scored the equalizing third goal through a header from a corner kick.

With the momentum on their side, they did not have to wait much longer for the winner as Red Star top goal-scorer Mohamed Afrar scored in the 85th minute, from a free-kick to stun the SLTB.

Even with five minutes of injury time SLTB were unable to find a goal as Red Star celebrated at the final whistle.
