TPFC 2018 Standout Players – Week 1

At the end of week 1 of the ThePapare Football Championship.

Shabeer Razooniya (St. Peter’s College)

The National Cap leading from the front with a hattrick helped the Peterites to come up trumps against Baduriya Central 7-1. Apart from scoring 3 himself, he also set up 2 goals. Excellent ball retention and passing puts him on top of the pile of school boy footballers.

Mohamed Ihsan (St. Peter’s College)

The 15 year old got his first hattrick for St. Peter’s College in the win against Baduriya Central 7-1. His pace and skill on the left flank gave headaches to the defense line and he was a constant menace near the goal. Future star in the making.

Tharinda Silva (Maris Stella College)

Maris Stella’s Tharinda Silva helped himself to 4 goals in the thrashing of Bandaranayake College by 8 goals to NIL. Excellent footwork and finishing has put the young man at the top of the goal scorers list. With another 3 matches remaining in the group, Tharinda will look to increase his tally of goals.

Mohamed Sajid (Zahira College Colombo)

The Zahira left winger played his heart out against Al Aqsa in a 3-1 win. He was ever present in attack as well as in defense and contributed to 2 goals out of the 3 scored. A talent to look out for during the season.

Basith Ahamed (Gampola Zahira College)

Excellent overall play by Basith Helped Gampola Zahira draw against the much-fancied St. Joseph’s College 2-2. He scored a goal and had a hand in the own goal scored by the Josephians.

Asela Madushan (St. Joseph’s College)

Once again the talisman of the Josephian attack gets into the list with another excellent performance against Gampola Zahira. Playing away from home the boys from Maradana did well to come out with a point.
