Suranga Sampath’s all-round show hands Sri Lanka a thumping win over Australia

Sri Lanka registered a comprehensive win against Australia in their first match of the 3rd T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind 2022, played today (06th December) at DDA Vasant Kunj Sports Complex, New Delhi. 

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first and restricted the Australians to 158/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Cameron Matt top-scored for the Aussies with a knock of 48 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours.

Suranga Sampath was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka as he bagged 2 wickets for 20 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka showcased a brilliant batting display, chasing down the target in the 14th over with 7 wickets in hand.

Sampath who starred with the ball earlier in the day, showed his skills with the bat, scoring a match-winning knock for Sri Lanka. Sampath stroked 63 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours at a strike rate of 153.66 and won the Player of the Match award.
