The 123rd Battle of the Blues Ruhuna encounter played out between St. Thomas’ College, Matara and St. Servatius’ College, Matara ended in a draw today (26th March) at Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara.
After being put into bat first, St. Thomas’ College posted 241 runs, courtesy of a well-compiled half-century from Ochintha Chamika. Thisan Dewmith stood out with brilliant bowling, picking up 4 wickets for 49 runs for St. Servatius’ College.

In reply, St. Servatius’ College showcased a dominant batting display, putting on 346/6 before declaring their first innings. Vishwa Supun stepped up on the big occasion to notch up a magnificent century. Chamarindu Nethsara and Viran Chamuditha supported him well at the other end, scoring vital half-centuries.
St. Thomas’ College began their second innings 105 runs behind and a poor batting display saw them bundled out for just 171 runs. Thisan Dewmith who starred with the ball picking up 4 wickets, once again showcased his skills with the ball taking 7 wickets, aggregating his match tally to 11 wickets for 86 runs.
