St. Servatius’ College played Maris Stella College at Uyanwatta Stadium in a traditional fixture of the Singer U19 Division 1 Cricket tournament while Lumbini College and St. Aloysius’ College ended their traditional game in a draw. Another traditional fixture between Ananda College and Mahinda College commenced in Hambantota today (8th November)

St. Servatius College, Matara vs Maris Stella College, Negombo

St. Servatius fought their way back from an absolute disaster and went on to win the game. St. Servatius who won the toss put Maris Stella to bat first. St. Servatius bowlers did a good job to keep the visitors quiet and restricted them for 173 runs. Pasindu Manupriya and Shashika Dulshan bowled brilliantly as they shared 7 wickets between them.

St. Servatius in reply was in trouble by the end of day one at 91 for 6. Eventually they were bowled out for 122 runs next morning and clearly Maris Stella was on top of the game by that point.

Then came in the St. Servatius’ bowlers with a bang as they bowled out Maris Stella for 97 runs. Ravindu Fernando top-scored with 35 runs.

The hosts were returning to the crease with 149 runs for victory. A task which Rishira Lakwin and Sri Lanka cap, Shashika Dulshan took up fondly as they top scored with 54 runs and 45 runs respectively. St. Servatius’ College went past the mark for the loss of five wickets and won the game comfortable in the end.

Lumbini College, Colombo vs St. Aloysius College, Galle

After winning the delayed toss, due to wet ground conditions, St. Aloysius’ College invited the hosts to bat first. Lumbini College was not having a good day in the center as they were wrapped up for just 130 runs by St. Aloysius bowlers. Pasindu Pamoditha hit a fighting 49 runs while Madushka Samith picked up a fifer. Sandun Madushanka also picked up 4 wickets as his share.

In reply, St. Aloysius’ was at 9 runs for 1 wicket by the end of day one. Resuming on day two, St. Aloysius added up another 124 runs to the score, which took them to 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets by the end of the game.

Mahinda College, Galle vs Ananda College, Colombo

Mahinda College won the toss and elected to bat first. The day only lasted a session and a half as the heavens opened up. Mahinda College got a good start to the game by batting out the day and finishing at 128 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Kaushitha Kodithuwakku was the pick of the batsmen for his 38 runs. The game will resume tomorrow for day two.
