St. Servatius in slamming win against Mahanama, Bens take the lead

St. Servatius College defeated Mahanama College today in an inter school cricket encounter which took place at Maggona.

  

St. Servatius College managed to score 183 runs in their first innings today to defeat Mahanama College who scored 153 runs yesterday.

 Yohan Chanuka slashed up a half century (60) while Sanchika Ridma, Ruchira Jayathunga and Ridath Dilshan went off to score 38, 34 and 25 runs respectively.  Denuka Karunarathne and Dulanjana Senewirathne chipped in 4 wickets each for 27 and 42 runs apiece.

Mahanama College scored 101 runs in 36.4 over’s in their second innings with skipper Pavan Devinda scoring 50 runs. Ashen Deemantha and Sanchika Ridma made impressive strides as they took 5 wickets each within 45 and 50 runs respectively.

With Mahanama shot out for a below par score the target for the St. Servatius was 71 runs. They managed to score 74 runs to hammer their counterparts in 23.4 over’s for a loss of 4 wickets. Gihan Nimasara along with Ruchira Jayathuna scored 35 and 17 runs while Pavan Devinda and Dulanajan Senevirathne took 1 wicket each.

St. Servatius College won the inter school cricket encounter by 6 wickets.

Bens take the upper hand 

Isipathana College took on St. Benedict’s College today in an inter school cricket match which was played at Benedict grounds.

The hosts won the toss and had no hesitation in putting Isipathana in to bat first and the visitors managed to score 140 runs in 70.1 over’s. Matheesha Jayasiri and Maleen Dias scored 37 and 30 runs for their team while Dilan Anjula chipped in with 5 wickets in 28 runs.

Benedict’s played a watchful session during the final minutes of the day and batted out 19 over’s and managed to score 65 runs. Thilina Silva and Mahela Jayalath were unbeaten for 43 and 17 runs respectively.
